Finally, we will return to the point that when the user
is identifying an icon, the user is picking one from the set
of icons that are possible on this device. To make this a quick
and intuitive step, make the icons distinct in more than one
way.
Consider the shapes shown here. The top row has satisfied
our earlier goal of having distinct outlines. We can improve
on this by making them distinct in other ways. On the second
row the circle is filled, the triangle is drawn without an
outline. The three shapes are now even more visually distinct.
Again we have sacrificed uniformity for the sake of making
the icons more usable.
