    Despite the problems with diagonal lines described in the last slide, they are particularly useful for representing motion. The pencil on the left looks stationary, but the one next to it looks as if it is tracing a line across a surface.
    The first box looks as if it is moving, due to the speed-trail left behind it, but the box with sloped edges looks as if it is moving even faster.
